We're thankful for so much: family, friends, puppies, quesadillas...the list just goes on and on. When it comes to skincare, however, we're especially thankful that we're living in an age where there's more science and more innovation than ever before. Skincare really has come a long way since your grandmother's jar of Ponds cream. With that said, here are a few of our favorite skincare ingredients that we're truly grateful for:
Marine collagen – The purest, most sustainable and ethical form of collagen, this miracle ingredient is meant to supplement the collagen we naturally los as we age. It makes for healthier, stronger skin with added luminosity.
Hyaluronic acid – If there were an awards show for skincare, we'd have hyaluronic give a speech while taking the trophy. Hyaluronic pulls moisture from the air and gives it to your skin. It's a hydration miracle!
Antioxidants – Antioxidants are the peacemakers of the skincare kingdom. They intercept the damage environmental stressors have on your skin and significantly lessen their impact. They're great for combating aging and the effects of sun damage.
Salicylic acid – All the exfoliation without any of the hard work. This ingredient is phenomenal for combating acne because it penetrates deeply into the pores and exfoliate past the surface of the skin. No more whiteheads and blackheads!
Glycolic acid – We normally hear the word "acid" and think of danger, but the only thing dangerous about glycolic acid is not incorporating it into your skincare routine. This fantastic ingredient is a super exfoliator and actively combats signs of aging.
Retinol – Retinol is a skin plumper that makes skin appear more youthful while helping erase fine lines. The only drawback is that retinol can make your skin drier and also makes it more sensitive to sun.
Vitamin C – Vitamin C is packed with antioxidants and is great for erasing old scars and fine lines.
Caffeine – As much as we love caffeine in our drinks, it's also great on our skin. It can help stimuate the skin and help erase crow's feet while giving skin a fresh appearance.
The best skincare has at least one of these powerful ingredients in it, so be sure to check out the ingredients list before investing in your routine.
