GOING PLACES- TRAVEL SKINCARE
Ah, travel. Whether it’s for business or pleasure, going new places can be good for your soul but challenging for your skin. Getting from point A to point B may include air travel, which has recycled, stale, cabin air, combined with mashing your face into a little pillow. You may be in a completely different climate than your home, and spending more time doing activities outside your normal routine. All of these variables can cause your skin to hit extremes. Dry gets drier, oily gets oilier, sensitive doesn’t know what to do with itself.
There are ways to help your skin achieve some stasis and mellow out. You don’t need an overhaul from your normal routine, but a few helpful adjustments help take the edge off. For one, bring your usual skin care products with you. It’s tempting to use some sample size lotion you got as a free gift from Sephora, but now is not the time to experiment. Best to stick with your standbys. Fill tiny travel bottles or use a travel size version. If you’re in a sunnier climate, consider a higher SPF or a lighter/thicker moisturizer depending on the climate.
In terms of those few helpful adjustments, keep hydrated. Internally and externally. So, drink water…lots of it. Down a bottle before the TSA line and grab another once you pass through security to drink during your flight. Even after you arrive at your destination, keep it up. You’re often busy or distracted or straight chilling, but changes in activity and climate affect your body. Water gives you a fighting chance to keep your skin optimal.
For topical skin hydration treatment, sheet masks are a godsend. Yes, you have your usual standbys, but do you want to break that bottle of triple digit serum or have it confiscated? NO. Masks are a travel friendly, TSA approved way to give your skin a boost and reset your complexion. Your skin can become dull and dry from the flight. In order to give a little extra love, try a mask on the plane (to keep your seat mates from speaking to you) or once you’ve arrived to soothe and balance your skin. Masks can also help check your bags-- the undereye ones. Eye masks help restore freshness and brightness that may have diminished on that red eye flight.
We suggest taking along one of Soon’s Biocellulose face or eye masks for your travel needs. They have excellent fruit extracts that act as antioxidants and moisture restoring ingredients, like hyaluronic acid and aloe vera to hydrate and smooth your face. With their easy and portable single use packaging, wherever you go, they’re ready when you are.
