Also Known As
Ginkgo Biloba
What It Does
Originating in China, ginkgo biloba nut extract is derived from the maidenhair tree, one of the oldest trees in the world. These nuts are high in antioxidants and are anti-inflammatory, soothing skin. They also hydrate and prevent free radical damage in the skin.
Why It Works
Ginkgo biloba contains high amounts of antioxidant compounds such as polyphenols and flavonoids. These compounds neutralize free radicals in the skin preventing them damaging skin cells. Ginkgo biloba also has high amounts of quercetin (a flavonoid) that contains anti-inflammatory properties. It reduces inflammation by inhibiting the production of inflammation-producing enzymes.
